Potomac Highlands Regional Jail
#13 Dolin Drive
Augusta, WV 26704

The Potomac Highlands Regional Jail -- located in Augusta, West Virginia -- is a showcase example of the nationally recognized West Virginia regional jail system. This 100,000 square feet, two-pod facility houses two hundred inmates and features a gymnasium, reading library, law library, chapel, commissary and two staff training rooms.  The service area of the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail encompasses inmates from Hampshire, Grant, Hardy, Mineral and Pendleton Counties.

An Administrator, with the assistance of a Chief Correctional Officer and 1st Sergeant, leads a staff of 65 uniformed correctional officers and approximately 33 non-uniformed support staff members.  In addition to highly trained correctional officers, the dedicated staff members provide a 24-hour Medical Unit, Education Department, Counseling Department, and Food Services.  All areas of the facility are computerized and the state-of-the-art virtual “Courtroom of the Future” video teleconferencing is  being fully utilized.

Located in the heart of the Potomac Highlands, Augusta and the surrounding area provide a beautiful rural setting rich in history.  The area focuses on its Civil War heritage and it is the home to the Potomac Eagle Rail Excursion.  The Potomac Highlands area is the largest single natural scenic and recreational area in the eastern half of the United States and has been termed a "sportsman's paradise." Fishing, hunting, canoeing, skiing, and backpacking name only a few of the outdoor adventures offered in this area.

The region's bordering location allows a short drive to Cumberland, Maryland, or Winchester, Virginia.  "City life" is also available for big-time sports or recreation in Washington, DC, only 150 miles away.
With low housing costs and an outstanding education system, this area is a great place to raise a family. The Potomac Highlands area offers small-town charm and safety coupled with natural scenic beauty and a close proximity to a wide variety of activities.
